Karen Mullins Michane, of Hoboken, passed away at home surrounded by her family on Monday, May 15, 2017.  Born in Jersey City, the daughter of the late Edward and Agnes Mullins, she attended the Academy of St. Aloysius and was one of the first women accepted at St. Peter’s University.


Karen taught at St. Vincent de Paul School in Bayonne before becoming a probation officer.  She retired as a principal probation officer, after 33 years.  She was a communicant and lector at St. Joseph’s Church in Hoboken and the executive secretary for the Homeless Shelter.  Karen loved spending time with her family and friends, and traveling, especially to Ireland and Scotland, reading mysteries, going to the theater and listening to Bob Dylan.


Karen is survived by her adored children, Marianne and Thomas Michane, her beloved granddaughter, Megan T. Brown, loving companion, Anthony Casale Jr., brothers, Edward, Thomas, Robert and James Mullins, sisters, Joan O’Brien and Marianne Ruane.  Also survived by twelve nieces and nephews, nine great nieces and nephews and many truly dear, loving, wonderful friends.


Mass at St. Joseph’s Church, Thursday, May 18, 2017 at 10:30 AM. Interment to follow at Holy Name Cemetery, Jersey City.  Visitation Wednesday, May 17, 2017, beginning at 1 PM and concluding at 9 PM at Failla-McKnight Memorial Home, 533 Willow Avenue, Hoboken.  Valet parking available in rear of memorial home off Sixth Street.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Karen’s memory to the Hoboken Homeless Shelter.  Envelopes will be provided during the wake.
